Through the Lens of Truth

Are you a good judge of character?

When I first thought about this question, I found myself pausing. Am I a good judge of character? My honest answer is: I’m learning. Over the years, I’ve had moments where I trusted the wrong people or made snap judgments based on first impressions. But those experiences taught me valuable lessons about discernment, patience, and self-awareness.

I’ve learned that being a good judge of character isn’t about always getting it right—it’s about being open, observant, and willing to grow. It’s about listening more than speaking, looking for consistency, and recognizing that everyone, including myself, is a work in progress.

One thing that has helped me is understanding my own biases. I realized that I sometimes projected my past experiences onto others, which clouded my ability to see them for who they really are. By reflecting on those patterns, I’ve become more intentional about approaching people with empathy and curiosity rather than judgment.

So, am I a good judge of character? I’m better than I was yesterday, and I hope to be better tomorrow. To me, it’s less about perfection and more about progress. And I believe that as I continue to grow in self-awareness and grace, I’ll also grow in my ability to see others clearly.

What about you? How do you approach this question in your own life? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Let’s learn together.
