What’s your favorite month of the year? Why?

When I think about my favorite month of the year, I’m immediately transported to May—a month that carries both joy and bittersweet memories for me. May is more than just a page on the calendar; it’s a chapter of reflection, growth, and love.
Why May? It’s a month of renewal and possibility. The flowers are in bloom, the days are longer, and it feels as though the world is shaking off the last remnants of winter’s grip. For me, it’s also deeply personal—May is the month I became a mother for the first time. It’s the month I experienced an unshakable bond and the unimaginable pain of loss, as my firstborn son, Braylen Makai, was born in May and left this world just 28 days later. Every May, I honor his memory, his light, and the way he changed my heart forever.
May also signifies resilience. It’s a reminder of how life continues to blossom even after seasons of loss and heartbreak. In this month, I find the strength to celebrate the beauty in brokenness and the joy of new beginnings. I look around at my children, my family, and all the moments we’ve been blessed to share, and I am reminded that every hardship we’ve endured has led to something greater.
Beyond personal reasons, May feels like a gift of hope. It’s a time to listen to the laughter of my kids as they play outside, to enjoy the fresh air that whispers promises of summer adventures, and to give thanks for another year of growth.
So, what’s my favorite month of the year? May, without a doubt. It’s the month that reminds me to reflect on where I’ve been, celebrate where I am, and hold onto hope for where I’m going.
